You guys have given invaluable help in the past and I'm hoping someone can enlighten me to this strange half dollar.
As you can see it has a bronze finish which baffles me.

There's no harm in playing with it. But it won't "clean" in any way that will leave it attractive.

It's worth fifty-cents either way. However, damage like your coin has will not just disappear, there is underlying metal damage that will show up unless you polish the crud out of the coin.
