    I have a very similar coin in a GSA holder. Mine appears to be a later die state; thus I believe it to be VAM 8A.

    No, it is a VAM-5A. (And 8A is NOT a later state of 4A; they are entirely different dies.)

    That is a very nice CC Morgan.... and the die clashes (and die cracks) add to the character. Nice pictures... Cheers, RickO

    No, it is a VAM-5A. (And 8A is NOT a later state of 4A; they are entirely different dies.)

    The obverse matches 5A, but the reverse does not. It's missing the Horizontal die gouge in denticles below the DO and the starburst at the wingtips .

    100% a 5A. The reverse is the exact same die, just a different state. The clash positions and the die polish at the eagle's right shoulder (left side of the coin) are distinct.
