Morgan 1921 PL ?

In hand this 1921 has good mirrored fields but just not sure if it would (edit) qualify as PL.
Unfortunately it does have 3 noticable contact points; nose, chin and below the eye. Grading definitely would take a huge hit.
Should I disregard it's potential and throw it in with the rest of my 1921s?

From the little bit of reflectivity I see around the edge where your fingers are, it looks like it has a decent shot at PL. I would send it in.
Mmmm, does have some PL aspects but lots of wear on cheek and looks to have been poorly dipped with residuals as well. IMHO I would not submit. Possibly consider ammonia soak and tamp with soft soaked Q-tips (no rub) and LIBERAL rinse with water and tamp dry with high nap white cotton towel (no rub).
Well, just Love coins, period.
To better judge the reflectivity of the fields, and contrast with the devices, try shooting from a slight angle, rather than straight on.

I wouldn’t. The coin appears to be AU. So even if it would otherwise be designated PL - and I’m not convinced it would - I don’t think it would qualify for the designation.

Much better! The fields look PL to me, but there is no real contrast on the devices. If it were me, I'd send it in for grading.

$40 to get it slabbed is a decent gamble. MS62PL best case result. Maybe DMPL, but those are rare and not possible to judge effectively via pictures.

I would not send it in, the second set of photos make it look messed with, the first look AU. But if you don't mind donating the funds and like to gamble them sure.

It would be a poor gamble, not a decent one. The coin looks AU, not Unc. and in the second set of images, it appears to have been cleaned (edited: or altered). Chances of it receiving a straight-grade and PL designation are at best, extremely remote.

Definitely has some mirror to it, but what's your best guess on the grade ? Judging from the pictures absolute best case would be ms62. More likely au58. Would it be worth it.
I'd save your money on this one.
My opinion is that the first set of images who an AU coin and the second set of images show a coin after treatment with something like jewelers rouge. However, I could absolutely be wrong, especially about the second set of images.

I personally think that this coin looks better then AU.

"This issue yields few examples with mirrors or cameos. In DMPL the coin is extremely scarce, with few attributed as such in any grade. Abrasions usually limit the eye appeal of known DMPL's. The coin fares better in PL, with few examples in Gem or above.
Could be the photo but agree when the design itself appears shiny that is usually a sign of cleaning. If it was unfortunate since otherwise looks like a nice 21P with a strong strike.

Hi, correct me were I'm wrong, but when a coin is clean, don't you typically see some signs of dark spot around the stars and/or letters? Where the cleaner could not completely remove the dirt/grim.
Give it a good scrubbing with a hard brush…

@Tramp... I would not recommend submitting that coin... I think it is likely AU and would not receive the PL designation. Appears to have been polished a bit. Cheers, RickO
