1918-D wheat

I know this is nothing special but how often do you find a nice old wheat like this in change?
A 105 year old1918-D that I received in change yesterday. It looks like it spent some time on the pavement or such with the rim scratches on the reverse, but overall nice condition for it's age.

    Mistakes are natural. But repeated mistakes without reflection are something else. That may be the “stupidity” he was referring to. In research, he admitted uncertainty openly. “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” This shows humility. Even a Nobel laureate accepted doubt. That humility makes the quote less cynical and more observational.

    Every once in a while, an old copper turns up in change... I deal a lot in cash (because I like to get coins back), and get 3-5 old (pre 1940) cents a year. Cheers, RickO

    A few times a year I'll get an old cent in change. I found a 1919 wheat cent in a parking lot last year. I was in VG condition or so, no scrapes or dings.

    I think plenty of people just put wheat cents back into circulation. Honestly, I'm at the point of spending or cashing in most of my rolled wheat cents since my local coin shop wasn't interested in buying them from me. There's not much to do with rolls of them except hoard them (which I'm loathe to do) or spend them.

    Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

    I hear you. I have many wheats but honestly they're worth one cent each like it says on the reverse.
    I keep all that I find in change, not many these days and not worth the effort.
    I have several 1943 steel cents that my grandparents pulled from circulation back in the day. They were born in 1900-1902.
    Years ago I found an indian head cent on the ground in front of devil's cave.

    You really never know what you'll find. Before the Anaheim ANA I think in 2007, I received a 53 S Cent that would grade MS 65 RD, in change.

    The big haul I wrote about here about six months ago was 26 silver dimes in a Coinstar reject slot. A few were worn 1919 and 1920 Ps, a 47 P that would grade Unc. and a 42 S that was a slider. The biggest shock was an 07 D Barber Dime that looked like a hungry animal took a bite out of it.
