This is the best uncirculated 1879o Morgan I have right now. In hand I like the strike especially the reverse.
What grade would you give it?

79-O comes well struck. Strike issues didn't really start for O dollars until 1882. That said, I can't get a good read on the surfaces of your coin to say what I'd grade it other than something between AU58 and MS63, assuming there aren't any issues precluding a straight grade.

It looks possibly processed or wiped at least. I do not know if that will grade by the photos. 61 maybe IMO.

I don’t know if it’s the lighting but the surfaces do not look original to me. Clean and smooth, yes, but unnaturally so. I’d grade it AU details.

Is the background supposed to be white? It could be the white balance adjustment is off on your camera leaving the surfaces to appear dull...

I agree with all of the above comments. Better photos would help.

Take the photo with coin on a surface where the photo color matches exactly like you see it. If your photo is on a white sheet of paper the color is really off.

Cannot judge the luster of the surface from these pics. Looks almost like a scanner image. If unmolested surfaces, then I would expect a technical grade of MS-65, possibly a 64 if they are being very critical.

The coin has good strike and details.... however, field and cheek chatter do hurt the grade. Looks like an MS grade... will wait for improved lighting pictures. Cheers, RickO

I would guess AU58 because I see very little Mint luster and minor dings on both sides. IF the surfaces are actually flashier than depicted in the photos, it might be MS63 or 64.

Assuming the luster is there although not pictured, I's say MS 63.

Thank for you comments and your patience with my pictures.
I have never been good at taking pictures. I normally use an iPad or iPhone for pictures either camera or magnifier.

I retook pictures this time on a black background using my iPad. You can see the iPads shadow in the right side if the coin.

After new pictures, AU details, cleaned.

Clearly an AU, I also think it would get a details grade but it might slide by.

Much better photo. See how the luster looks cloudy, like a dirty mirror? That is usually a sign that it has been cleaned in the past. It would probably grade AU Details, cleaned. As @coinbuf mentioned above, it might slide by if submitted. It's not a bad looking coin overall.

Cleaned AU Details. I don't think it will slide with a straight grade.

Yeah, the luster is still missing and the coin now certainly looks cleaned. UNC Details at best.

    Cleaned and AU.

Obviously cleaned. There is no way that will get a straight grade.
