1893-CC Morgan missing "C"?

Hello all - long time lurker mainly on the card side, recently picked up a 1893-CC Morgan. I noticed that the first C in the mint mark is extremely faint. Is this just a normal filled die or a known variety? I figure NGC would've noted as such but thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

    They are seen every now and again. I think it was an over polishing of the die, as it shows up pretty often. Should have a Vam but it does not. I've owned one in about the same grade. If I remember right there is another CC with the same issue but for the life of me can't remember the date. Perhaps 92? Grease filled die makes sense, though too. Maybe even more sense as the polishing would have likely affected both C's not just one. Nice coin.

    CC buyers want bold CCs. In my opinion, something like this would cause a reduction in value.

    I think it is VAM-4 on which this can sometimes be found. We sold one a while back, I will see if I have the pic

    Wow savoy, the first C on the coin you linked to looks completely missing. Very cool! Has anyone seen a mint-state example of a missing "C"?

    Not long ago a Morgan with a letter missing from the motto passed across my desk. I figured it was PMD but now I think it must have been GFD.

    Not to be confused with GPD, which I also have.
