A forgotten coin in your collection and a GTG

Pnies20Pnies20 Posts: 2,586 ✭✭✭✭✭

Have you ever come across a coin that you’ve had in your collection for a while and maybe it’s become an afterthought for some reason. Maybe your eye was ahead of it’s time and you didn’t realize what you had when you picked it up. Or maybe, as in my case, I never bothered to look at the Trueview! But for whatever reason, it’s sat in a box unloved 😭💔

That happened to me tonight, while trying to finalize a batch of coins to send in to CAC and came back across this 1828 O-112. It is crusty but has beautiful toning and outside of a fingerprint between star 5 and the nose, there are no distractions. My favorite part about the coin, and my favorite attribute to coins while shopping, is the luster sparkling in the protected areas. PCGS nailed this trueview. It is true to the in hand eye appeal.

Guess the grade! Not particularly hard to guess the grade but just something fun for a Saturday night stuck in the house.

BHNC #248 … 140 and counting.

Beautiful, but not my series, so I will guess AU-53.

I am thinking 58, but I'm probably way off.

Tonedeaf is a nickname given to me in reference to my guitar playing ability.

"...luster sparkling in the protected areas" usually equals XF45, but this looks nicer. So, say AU50.

I know this coin, but I can't remember where from ... looks AU50, maybe 53?

    Nice look

Nice coin, I'll wager AU50. I've had that kind of thing happen before, though not so much anymore since I went through a couple cycles of paring down my collection pretty aggressively.
