I was just looking at the back page of my October Greysheet and NGC is hiring Numismatists and offering a nice finders fee for referrals. Just saying......

If you do what you always did, you get what you always got.

    How does a numismatist become a numismatist? I like coins, am I a numismatist?

    If this is from October, I wonder if the positions are filled already.

    I think the key word in an NGC hiring, would have the word 'numismatist', preceded by the word 'professional'.

    Think of the term in degrees..... starting with an individual that saw a neat cent and decided to save it - and maybe more of them..... then buys a book or two, then is interested in dimes or nickels.... then has several or many books on coins.... takes courses from ANA.... They are all numismatists at various levels of knowledge and competence. Cheers, RickO

    NGC labelled the coin wrong. It is a silver 3 cent coin. It may or may not be a proof. I can't tell from the pic.

    It's a mechanical error, they mistakenly holdered a 3c silver as a 3c nickel.

    What a ridiculously cheap shot. I don’t know of any grading companies that haven’t made multiple errors of that type or worse.

    I used to know someone who worked at one of the major TPGs. Lots of coins to look at and a very high burn out rate.
