As mentioned, I have switched mainly to collecting space memorabilia these days, so I haven't been on these boards in a while.

I still enjoy looking at coins, I just haven't been purchasing any. I am at the stage where I'm thinking of selling off a lot of my collection.

Here's a Washie for those that like Washingtons.

The Gemini Program (1965-66) is probably my favorite program of the early US manned spaceflight programs (1961 - 1975): Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz Test Program (ASTP). Mercury was basically to see if humans could survive in space, Apollo landed on the Moon, Skylab was America's first space station, and ASTP was a political one-off to rendezvous US and Soviet spacecraft in orbit. Gemini was the program that put the US ahead of the USSR in the space race. Up until Gemini, the Soviets were first in all the important manned space objectives; first man in space, first multi-spacecraft flights, first woman in space, first spacewalk (EVA). Gemini was the program that taught the USA to DO all the important maneuvers necessary to land a man on the Moon, and in the process the USA did all the important remaining manned space firsts; first change of orbit, first rendezvous, first docking two spacecraft together, first to do tasks when doing an EVA, first planned creation of artificial gravity while in orbit. Aside from actually landing on the Moon, Gemini taught the USA all the tasks necessary for Apollo 11 to land.

Here's my most recent fairly valuable space purchase. It's an 8" x 10" picture mosaic of Gemini Program mission highlights. There were 10 manned Gemini missions flown. The space inside the capsule was roughly the same size as the front seats of a VW Bug of the same era. Each mission had 2 crew members. While there were 20 "seats" on the flown missions, 4 astronauts flew twice, so a total of 16 astronauts flew. Two (Gus Grissom and Ed White) of the 16 Gemini astronauts were killed in the Apollo 1 fire, within roughly two months of the end of the Gemini program. This picture has ALL 14 signatures of the Gemini crew members who were alive after the Apollo 1 fire. I've never seen anything else like it. In the upper left corner is the most famous of all the astronauts who flew in Gemini (although he didn't become THAT famous until Apollo 11), Neil Armstrong. Then you have Jim Lovell, Wally Schirra, Buzz Aldrin, Dave Scott, Tom Stafford, Frank Borman, Charles (Pete) Conrad, Jim McDivitt, Gordo Cooper, Michael Collins, Dick Gordon, Gene Cernan and John Young.
