    and 1943 cents stick to a magnet and are a gray color looking different than most cents

    If it is a 1943 steel cent it is probably real.

    Tough to say very much, you should check the white balance on your camera or phone camera, that is a very unnatural color for a steel cent. It looks like it might have been plated or painted as the coin surfaces are chipping/wearing off in places, that is what caused the "7" shape you see.

    Cents were steel in 1943. The one pictured is normal.

    It's not a 7. It's pareidolia.

    If you want to do this as a business, you shouldn't be weighing and measuring steel cents.

    That coin is worth 10 cents. You would have to weigh and measure thousands of them and you MIGHT find something. But it won't matter because you starved to death while looking.

    If it's a hobby, you can value your time as zero and do it for fun. If it's a business, you can't waste time on things that don't pay.

    1943 steel cents are extremely common and have little value, I have never even seen a fake one.

    Yes, there are different size American cents. Don 't feel bad. There's a lot to learn. Just take your time and try to digest what you can.

    I'm way behind the numismatic curve. There are guys out there that have spent their careers in numismatic that don't know it all and are still learning.
