Has anyone ever seen this type of grading on an ngc or pcgs holder, good grief!

Whats the purpose of a grading label like this? Well I guess it actually means the coin entrapped in this slab
grades somewhere between and including MS60 to MS70! (would have taken all but an extra minute or two to get a
correct grade on the coin)

Those BU or Unc type grades are sometimes bulk submissions and cheaper. I believe it is pcgs code 89 that will have a similar type 'grade'.

This. Quite common, actually. You see them all the time with hoard coins and mass markets coins.

Yeah the mass market coin dealers you see on TV sell these. Their audience often is not aware of the nuances of say a 63 vs. a 64 so just sold as 'Brilliant Uncirculated' along with other accolades like 'Never touched by human hands' etc.

If I could get coins certified for $10 or so in those slabs I would submit as long as I didn't get the typical fussy no grades.
Perhaps it was a bulk submission where they said "If it does not grade at least X just call it BU."

Agreed on the bulk submission comments. I would not pay any more than MS60...unless it was something obviously special.

Why pay for a numerical grade when there is so little difference in price between MS60-MS62.

One could make the same complaint about our hosts "SAMPLE" slabs.

Many coins of the Binion Hoard (Vegas casino owner killed for his silver) are slabbed that way. Bulk, cheapy. Some of the Binion coins are MS63 or 4 but most are not.

I've also got a few of those NGC slabbed Morgans worth $40 stating "Genuine".

I have a few similar slabs - Silver Eagles, Gold Eagle fractionals, presidential dollars. All were marketing promotions of one kind or another.
For the gold billion I actually ike it as an authenticity confirmation.
It's not the time, it's the money. Would you pay $15 to grade it or $5 if you had 1000 very low end UNCs?

I’ve seen lots of these with silver dollars, silver eagles, buffalo nickels and others. You can bet that those sending them in are savvy enough to know they are low-end. The coins are then marketed to less-sophisticated collectors.
