Finally bought a shipwreck $20!

Finally picked a shipwreck $20! From the 123 DE’s found in the San Francisco Mint Box, five were graded PL by NGC and this one has crossed and stickered. The surfaces are spectacular.

Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Amazing how little damage was inflicted by being in the ocean for a hundred years! Now find a matching Saddle Ridge example that was in the ground for a hundred years. Some were preserved almost that nice. Gold is incredible!
Thank you everyone- have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow. Just wow. I was thinking a nice 66, maybe a nice 67, but not a fantastic 66PL!
These coins are so cool.

I'd lift my face for that beauty on any day!
One question...What's a "Spiked Shield?" I checked the shield and didn't notice anything unusual, but I don't collect DEs.
Congrats on another stunning acquisition!

That coin is very heavy in hand, holding it makes you feel good.
Very impressive, @Floridafacelifter.
I think it might have been cheaper to buy the ship than the shipwreck coin.

Kennedys are my quest...
“Spiked shield” is the die variety… when these were brought up from the shipwreck en masse, PCGS designated a bunch of minor die varieties of the various coins. This one refers to a diagonal “spike,” almost like a splinter, sticking the shield at the left side.
Absolutely beautiful PL example of a shipwreck DE… congrats!
Spectacular specimen! This one lifts the face, no procedure required.
Holy cow !
That's beautiful, congratulations !
Thanks! I thought that mark was a nick. Beautiful coin that I'd love to see in-hand!
Spectacular!

A 66 PL with a salvage title, after over 100 years in salt water. Sooooo how much over PCGS value did you have to pay for this GEM. Beautiful coin.
OINK
A must read for anyone involved/interested in US numismatics….Mr Kinder regales the reader with the heartbreaking story of the folks that lost their lives in the sinking of the Central America and then tells the epic story of how the treasure was salvaged off the N Carolina coast…Truly you will never see one of these coins again without feeling the human sacrifice/ heart break surrounding them…
And another beautiful piece from @Floridafacelifter. I continue to be bowled over by the amazing coins you throw up for us to appreciate.
