I have started a collection of basic coin designs. Most of these types are already in my collection. It is my intent to replace these coins with high grade proofs where possible. I will be adding these to my website as time allows. Here are 3 50c type I just added. I will try and post coins here as I add them to my site.

@gschwernk... Nice coins... That 1942 is really special - to me ;) Super grade, I do not have one of that quality. Cheers, RickO

Looks like you are doing it right.

    Very nice coins.

    Nice coins!

You are well above my pay grade. The best I often do is MS-65 or 64 for the 19th century coins, and PR-66 or 67 for the coins in the '30s and '40s.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    nice coins and site.

when one spends that much money, who cares about 20-30 a year for domain/hosting. the FTP is worth that alone!

i like the simple coding/layout for the display of your collection. very efficient, effective and aesthetic. imo

You have a lot of nice coins included. The one that really stands out to me since I used to collect the series is the 1888 50C. Great example - love that kind of toning on a 1880s half.

It is very nice in hand. Actually the photos don't due justice to most of the proofs. The just don't show the true luster. These are all great coins in hand.

I was able to buy a few coins to add to those aready in my collection to complete this design set. I entered it in the PCGS registry and I was surprised it rank #2 all-time behind only DLH. I formed this set to spice up my website as part of my transition from a website only covering the 100 Greatest coins. You can find this Design set and links to the PCGS registry set on my website.

Congratulations on blasting past me. My design set is now #3 All-Time, but that’s ok. As I watched you recently strengthen your set, I’ve been rooting for you! I love your passion for our hobby!

If you’ll be attending FUN this January, please stop by my exhibit of my “Unique” Indian Head Cent set. I’d love to meet you. I’ll be hanging out a lot at my exhibit, other than Thursday morning and early Thursday afternoon, as I’ll be browsing the Bourse at those times to say hi to a couple of dozen dealers.

    Steve,

Thanks for kind words. I never attend shows since I am usually working. I do take off some time on weekends but need to spend some family time. Alas, my family is not at all interested in our hobby. There is a small chance I might attend the FUN show since my 100 Greatest Coin collection is being sold during the Heritage sales.

As you probably know though, the Heritage auction is being held the week AFTER FUN. Good luck on the sale. You put together great, highly desirable lots!

    Steve,

I actually didn't check the dates of the sale yet. Thanks for info. Most likely I will not attend the show.

    Thanks,
