I like the coin and it illustrates why I am down on the full steps designation. Just look at the quality in the appearance of the portico for Monticello- that is impressive. The door frame and door are clear as are the windows within the portico. Take look at the central architectural design for Monticello- it is not at the steps but it is the portico. And this coin for the date is about as good as it gets in terms of the central features of Monticello.
I like it as a 67 and perhaps 67+, but I suspect it others will see this differently

That thing has a lot going on... positive and negative. Rim hits... die erosion.. huge hit on his chin and a couple hits on the reverse... die polish lines.
Love the toning.
Like the coin overall.

Is the die erosion the rough texture at Jefferson’s temple? I have a similar characteristic on one of my Buffalo nickels, and have never been sure how to describe it.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
So did I but it was going in anyway and based on 51% eye appeal. I was monkeying around with toners (all denoms) on this past order but this one is quite mellow compared.
MS66 here. That chin hit kills the 67 IMO.

Congrats on the 67. FTR, the Monticello reverse on the 54and 55 are usually worse than the 56

The original bank roll had a couple more contestants with no big hits like this one does. But the strike and appeal made this one look much better even with the hits.
Is that a die clash on the reverse it looks like it mirrors Jefferson’s forehead?
Looks like it to me.
