Joe. Why do you treat me like an idiot. It’s not all the time but it’s enough that I wish you would stop it. It’s not becoming of someone who’s supposed to be a professional.
You really humiliate yourself and for what? Just gotta be right? Dr. Know it all. Just keep your opinion and comments about me to yourself. 😠

I will wait for the Kennedy coin to come onto the secondary market graded by Pcgs in a PR70 DCAM and purchase it then.

Already got 2 Silver Proof sets (like every year). I think the only difference is these coins are in airtites (edit, next post is right + the proof ASE). This 1 isnt typically on my annual must have list.
(The next post reminded me - I also already have the proof ASEs - which is why this isnt usually on my want list).

The set includes the proof ASE and that makes up part of the cost.

With 200,000 ase’s of the S proof variety it took a while for unavailable to appear.
Silver proof set $105 and proof S ase $73. Total $178. LES $201. Hummm. $23 for cardboard box and a few plastic capsules. 🧐

Also you don't get the cent and nickle with the LES

They gotta start making it more enticing. Switch up the Mints producing the coin so the set has some exclusives.

Too expensive and too many gimmicks. I quit buying those when the regular silver sets went over $100. Pass as for stacking some silver, older sets at about $30-$35 is a much better buy if one has an interest in these.

How did it get priced at $201 ? Does a computer set the prices? Most retailers would set a price at $199 as it sounds so much less. Two Hundred and One Dollars. What is that one dollar for?? Even that S ASE had an odd price at $73. Why not $69 or just bump it up to $75? Just seems like a computer program set the prices without any human input.

And that box....it's so bulky. Lots of packaging, a protective sleeve, another box to make an elegant presentation I guess...

I was just making the point that there is a difference between "bullion" coins and "collector" coins.

I'm sure most into coin collecting already knows that! Let people make their legitimate posts without disecting them to high Hell, it's alot more fun that way. :)

A better comparision would be how much silver dimes/quarters/halves you could get. As those, like the mint set, has years/mintmarks...ya know, history?

I mean (for the most part) one silver bar is just like another (provided they are indeed for real silver bars), right?

You are entitled to voice you opinion, that is what the forum is for. But coin collecting is (should be) more than profit & loss as it's a hobby

For $201 you may be able to get 2 ticket to a show in Vegas and only have memories of it, or 18 holes at Torrey Pines and only have memories (and broken golf clubs :) )

The $201 LESP set struck in beautiful .999 silver will be there whenever you want to admire them...

I do agree with those who say the the Mint should do something to make this set unique and standout, silver nickel and cent would be cool or add a silver Sacagawea dollar...

I also liked the post, why $201 and not $199, those $2 may turn some people, lol!

Now that would make it much more appealing as a collector's item. High five!

A silver trime and half dime along with a silver center cent.

Guess not many takers for it because it is still available (6 PM on the east coast).

The price hike has been ridiculous and hence stopped collecting them after the 2019 set because the coins (especially the ASE) is getting an ugly toning while still inside the capsule. Moreover the older ones were available for way cheaper in the secondary markets and managed to pick up duplicate sets for the years 2016 though 2019 for $137.00 lesser than the total issue price from the mint.

The part of the Mint that makes things for collectors is a for-profit entity; I don't understand griping about price. Don't think it's "worth it"? Don't buy it. If it's priced too high for the market (including if the price drops on the secondary market), they'll have to lower the price next year. But I don't see any signs of that. It's actually possible that they know what they're doing! ;)

In the interest of full and fair disclosure, I'll say that I bought one. In the context of what I spend on this hobby, it's nothing, and I like the coins and the set. And a little research indicates that the various silver proof sets hold their value well.
