Bill Jones - Simple and quick

DRUNNERDRUNNER Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭✭✭

I've been around here a bit. Played with old holders (Doilies), tried to be careful where I burn up bandwidth with non-essential comments, and enjoy as always the incredible knowledge and experience of numismatists that make this site a unique and historic transfer of information.

It just hit me . . . I look forward so much to Bill Jones' comments on various topics. Salient . . . experienced . . . without bias . . . and reflecting a volume of knowledge that I am sure he would never disclose. Tight, well written, to the point, never varying to the posters who derail . . .

There are others here too who impress me and I probably am remiss to sort out one from others . . . but Bill, never yield to the keyboard warriors! I am sure I am not alone in enjoying the reflecting in your knowledge and posts. You provide much here, as do many . . . but remain in that "non-inflammatory" tier where many can gain knowledge without having to sort through the detritus . . . . . .

Bravo to Bill . . .and others here like him . . .

@BillJones also posts very educational things on the CAC site. I enjoy his gold articles and learn so much. Some purchases I have made came from things he wrote about.

I would and do read and heed any post by Bill for all the above reasons and more. His knowledge is broad based and while he does have specialty knowledge regarding election tokens and such, I would have value in any of his posts regarding American Numismatics.

Agree with all of the above, and would add that Bill posts great stuff both here and on the "dark side." He has great insights and great coins! I, too, click on any thread he starts! Thanks Bill!

I had an uncle who was a lawyer then judge with a similar Welsh origin name; called his two kids "Bill" and "Sue".

Bill may not remember me but I'll always remember his comments to the small group hanging out after the 2000 FUN show bourse closed for the day. Perhaps 6-8 of us were passing around the coins we'd purchased at the show and Bill commented, "You guys know what you're doing here". It was my first show in over 30 years, and that comment made me feel happy and secure about my choices that day. That was a special time for me talking with other collectors for the first time in many years.

Thanks, Bill. Your posts are very informative as well. It's oftentimes about stuff about which I'm unfamiliar.

I was saving up for a decent indian head gold back a few yrs ago. I was fortunate enough to have Bill look at some at a show for me and he picked one out for me. It fit my budget and I've been very happy with it since. It's the only piece of classic gold I have. Thanks Bill!
