NEWPS How’d I do/feedback

Well I did it again. I kind buy stuff impulsively which didn’t work out great last time. I tried picking better quality coins out this time instead of just basically filling holes and randomly buying coins.

I thought the coins were very nice and looked good, but then again I am Newish compared to you old dogs on here! The 87-O honestly looked too nice for a 63 but what do I know 🫠🤷🏻‍♂️
Just be honest please! Also payed $20 ontop w shipping. Got $45 back in cashback from my coinbase card for a total of like $1175 or so

MS63 NGC $552 1878-CC

PCGS OGH MS63 1887-O $360

PCGS 1898-O MS66 $280

The '98 is really nice. I like the toning. The 87 is pretty decent, but the 78 is a bit rough for my personal liking. Nice set nonetheless! Congrats!

The obverse of the 78-CC is a bit crunchy for me, but I like the others. The 87-O is quite nice for a 63.

Thanks. I overpaid for a 63 but for a 64 it’s a good price, so I guess it’s a ok deal

If you like them ... you did great. 78CC has too many obverse distractions for my liking. There are lots of Morgan's in lots of grades so I am generally very picky these days.

Being a Type collector, I would only need one. Of those three, the 1898-O PCGS MS66 would get my vote.

Thank you for your honest feedback! I’m still learning. I thought it was a nice choice since the strike was nice compared to the other CCs.

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t think it’s that exact coin tho. The CC from HA is better tbh. Mine looks kinda PL, tho it could just be the pics.

FWIW... I know this is sort of comparing "apples to oranges" (Morgan Dollars to Large Cents) but I likely overpaid for a few of the Large Cents I won over the summer. Decent material seemed to bring out stronger bidders across the board but especially on nice early copper which doesn't get offered a whole lot... at least at reasonable starting bids and with no reserve. There were at least two pieces where I paid closer to XF money for solid/clean VF pieces. One super nice (XF?) 1816 in particular that brought closer to AU money...

But now I have a couple of really nice pieces and the longer I have them, the less pain I feel... lol!

@lkenefic Paying up for nice quality pieces is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it has to be done if you want a nice coin

Here’s a link to a video of them. The photos hid the extent of the dings in the 87-O. The scratch/hit on her face is significantly worse than the photos showed (looks worse in person). It’s honestly a disappointment since I was going of the photos. Now I get what everyone meant about how it’s hard to tell with photos

I would have consolidated the total cash of those coins (+ more perhaps) to buy one better quality coin vs three of lesser quality. Sometimes it's hard to resist the urge and to slake the collecting thirst this way. Yet, in the end, I think you'll end up with a stronger collection with less turnover.
