This $10 Indian earned a spot in my type set earlier this year. Just had her reholdered and TrueViewed. Take a guess if you’d like. I’ll reveal tomorrow. TV and my amateur iPhone shots below.

    Impossible to tell from those pics so I'll guess either AU58 or MS63.

    First of all, like many others I love the design and a well presented coin. IMHO too much luster loss from ?bag contact in obverse and reverse fields, esp on the in-slab pictures that followed. Also in that set of pictures - look at the cheek and upper jaw, an "U" shape pattern of possible wear down the cheek and then hooking up toward the ear. 58

    Grading changed on this series in the last decade as I used to be able to find AU50's that looked like this now I guess that's a AU58 or even AU58+.

    I will admit I am not good at grading these by photo or TrueView.

    I will go with 63. Nice looking example of one of the best series to collect.

    Very nice 58. I'm looking at an area of different color that I am interpreting as wear on the high point of the eagles wing on the reverse.

    I'm in the 58, or quite possibly the 55+ or 58+ camp. Not shocked to see it as MS, but I really don't think it is.

    GRADE REVEALED BELOW

    Alright folks, here's the guess distribution. Notably, the majority pegged the coin as mint state, and there were an equal number of guesses for 64 as there were 58. A few who said 58 thought it could be in a 63 holder (I used the lower of the two in that case).



    The coin is graded AU58 by PCGS, with CAC validation. I picked it up from David Kahn's booth at Winter FUN. It's an unbelievable AU coin, IMO—the luster is booming which the photos pick up to some extent. I knew I was leaving with it as soon as it was in my hand. Kudos to all those that got it correct!

    Thanks! Yeah, I maybe should have sent it along with a couple other reconsiderations last month (one of the two was bumped up a full point). Will definitely keep in mind for the next batch in that category.

    My guess inspected in hand most of us guessing MS grades would have said AU58 or 58+.

    I said 58 but wouldn't be shocked by a higher grade...

    For many of the Type coins I collect, I'd much prefer a clean 58 with detectable wear than a "baggy" looking 62 or 63 that's technically mint state... the OP's example is a beautiful piece that fits this description perfectly. Kudos!!
