    And for a Friday posting, here are some photos taken last evening. Looks like someone's power shovel hit a water or sewer pipe as evident by the blue sleeve over the splice and by the discarded broken piece of pipe next to it. (The yellow is a gas line.)

    The Flatiron building is still there in all her glory. She is getting an outer facade face lift this year, but still the grand dame of Madison Square Park. The Automat however is not. They closed the Automat in 1991.
