    I like 'em a bit nasty . . . . a little bit of intrigue . . . just a touch of evil, back-door, under-the table flashing red-light sexiness . .

The 1974 Aluminum Lincoln Cent (yeah . . .we know you're out there!!)

The 1964-D Peace Dollar (what do you think . . . 1 or 2 extant??)

I agree. About 25 years ago, I turned one down from Leon Hendrickson (Silver Towne) at a LB show for about $3K--been kicking myself in the arse ever since!

    Dream coins.....thats easy:

    - 1907 Ultra High Relief (is there a prettier design?)
    - Pan-Pac 50 Round (not octagonal)
    - Brasher Doubloon (a classic)
    - The silver Amazonian set (This may be the only contender to the Saint design)
    - 1936 Gobrecht Dollar in 65

I'll stop there before I sound too greedy.

The 1894-S Barber dime in Good4, the so-called "ice cream" coin.

Supposedly the Mint Director in SF at the time gave one of the 12 minted coins to his
daughter and she spent it on ice cream. What a neat story!

Unrealistic anytime soon - 1795 $10 Eagle, or the Eliasberg 1870-CC quarter (supposedly MS-64), or the Eliasberg 1793 Liberty Cap Cent

Realistic anytime soon - 1796 or 1797 Dime

Wait how did I end up on a thread from 2004. I’m an idiot

BTW, I wasn't agreeing with the part of your post where you said you were an idiot

All of the previously mentioned coins are certainly dream coins and I'd love to have any one of them, however the first coin that comes to mind is to locate a very choice 1898-O Micro O Barber Half Dollar.

One was discovered recently in a strong VG 10 state and I know that there must be others out there somewhere. Finding one in choice AU would be the pinnacle to my Barber set.

    Don’t you mean the 1892-O Micro O?

Impossible to assemble but the original Judas's 30 pieces of silver.

Otherwise, I'd like an 1849 Double Eagle. A couple are suppose to still be out there somewhere so who knows?

Or, a high grade mint state 1895 Morgan Dollar would hold me over.

There are no “mint state” 1895’s out there. They are all proofs, either impaired or not.

The post you commented on is old and the poster has passed away. At the time of his post there was news of a newly discovered 98-O micro O half. It was even mentioned in the Barber Collector Society Journal I believe. It never materialized.

It’s possible that I’ve answered similar threads differently over the years.

For me, a dream needs to be based in reality - something difficult, but possibly attainable.

I achieved something slightly beyond a dream in a different hobby a couple of weeks ago. I’m still over the moon about it. I digress……

For coins, a choice XF or AU small eagle half-dollar.
