Hello All,
I got several rolls of these 1995 silver eagles that came out of a monster box, that was left by my father, The face and back of the coin look perfect under the 12X eye loop however the edge of some coin looks dirty? will this affect the grade of the coin if I slab them?

They're bullion so not sure why you'd slab them? Unless for sentimental value...

As bullion a little toning on the edge should not matter. Same goes for slabbing (unless perhaps if you had a shot at MS70).

Since you have the coins on a towel, hopefully you know to handle them by the edges and that the least amount of handling is the best. Silver is ~$19 an ounce, but these coins regularly sell for $30-$35 "out of the tube". The "dirty" you mention is toning, and toning can be quite attractive and a plus, or ugly and a minus. Your eye is probably the best judge - if it's purple/blue/red, lustrous and cool to look at, good (generally). If it's brown, hides the luster and is not as pretty as the others, not so good (generally).
In my opinion, slabbing is an expensive crapshoot. If you want to preserve one or two for sentimental reasons, spending $17-$60 to slab them might make sense. If you were to get MS69 grades, the coins look to sell for about $75 on eBay. If you were to get an MS70 grade, well then slabbing would be worth it (retail is over $2,000). But be aware, only 140 out of 15,000+ coins (less than 1%) submitted to PCGS have achieved the MS70 grade.

If it were me I'd pull the cleanest nicest mark free pieces and send them in to take the shot.

the only reason I was thinking about slabbing is because I sold an unopened monster box to a dealer who claims he sent the box in and hade them slabbed and got (56) MS 70 coins out of the box. :'( I

56 out of 500 isn't great odds and can't be PCGS. NGC 70s are doing $1200 to $1500. If you can slab them at $30 each and can hit 1 out of 10, you'll win. But ANACS coins are only selling in the $300 range.

A 1% yield at PCGS will kill you with slabbing fees.

@warpig57 ... Welcome aboard. Thanks for the excellent pictures. The tarnish on the edges will not affect the grade. MS70's would be worth slabbing, but not easy to come by. If you are not experienced at grading, I suggest you get some help before submitting any. Cheers, RickO
