NEWP Toned Peace Dollar grade & color opinions

I picked this one up a few weeks ago, thinking about sending it to our host for grading.
Opinions on grade and color are appreciated. :)

    The way the colors go right up and over “United” without changing or interruptions makes me suspicious that the toning happened quickly

    More often a "tell" for Morgans and other coins with higher relief lettering than the Peace reverse. Mind you, I'd expect a Details grade too. Attractive coin though.

    It’s attractive and I like it. I haven’t a clue as to the grade.

    The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    It’s attractive but I wouldn’t get it graded. IMO high chance it will get body bagged with questionable toning and cleaned details

    I don’t necessarily see the reverse as QT, but I think the obverse looks cleaned. I’d say AU details. Nice coin, but probably not worth the sub.

    I don't think it's AU, I can't really tell if it's cleaned or not, but I think the color is a bit off. In particular, that purple shade just doesn't seem right. My gut tells me it will get a details grade.

    I think it's attractive, though I'd not feel confident in my ability to render an opinion re. OT vs QT.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    That's not a coin I would have bought raw. I did see two nicely toned Peace Dollars at Summer FUN yesterday. They were wicked expensive but they were also in PCGS holders which provides a little more confidence.

    Of course. It's the people that take the risk and buy raw that have the best chance at winning. Just not something I would have likely done in this case. Toned Peace dollars is a tough game to play.

    I'll play the contrarian as I do not find it attractive and think it has a high chance of a details or QT result, but let us know the result if you do submit.
