    pics are a bit small for a gtg, so i'll say 65

    Looks like solid strike and nice detail, I'll go out on a limb and say MS66. Nice coin

    if it was my submission it would be "cleaned AU Details", pretty sure your coin is 66 or better. Beautiful coin.

    I really like it but see a couple of small chin scratches and a jawbone scratch. 65

    I’ll guess 66+. An MS67 wouldn’t surprise me, but anything below 66 would shock me. Grade aside, that’s a beauty.

    I think she's gorgeous! Man, they're really tough on these. Is it weak strike? Because everything else is on point.

    Edit: I guess when you get in there closer there are some hits, but dang.

    Late also, but one of the first offered for GTG that I actually thought was a 67. Great toning on a super clean coin.

    Interesting how that works, yes the strike is stronger here and the plus is for the color. But overall aside from the strike your coin has better luster and fewer hits.

    The photos of the 1896 (MS-66) are overexposed, making comparison with the MS-67+ difficult. It would not surprise me if the MS-66 actually looks just as good or better in-hand.

    Disagree button! I'm sure it looks good in hand but...The cheek/bust looks flat or luster looks muted. The reverse shield looks beat up. Anyway though, isn't the strike the highest percentage of a grade?

    Nope. If I recall correctly, 60% surface condition, 15% strike, 15% luster/color, 10% "eye appeal".

    Edit: There is a bar chart somewhere but this should get the idea across.

    I was expecting to find a coin drenched in color when I opened this thread and was surprised to see one as white as I did. However, it appears obvious (at least to me) that while the coin is only lightly toned, it appears to have a thick, complete skin on it. I'd guess this coin radiates luster in-hand even under the intact surfaces. It is very pretty.

    I was going to go with 64 because of the marks on the cheek. Otherwise it's stunning.
    Maybe I'm used to how they grade morgans.

    Late to the game here... beautiful piece! I'd have been in the 65+/66 camp... pretty big price difference.

    Wow! I wasn't expecting that! FWIW, my grade was at least 66 as there were almost no marks in the fields. Really nice coin.

    I think that a Morgan with a cheek like that would still grade a minimum of 65+.

    Great coin with really clean fields and booming luster. The rim toning is nice and there are no spots. 66 doesn't surprise me at all.

    That is a really nice coin... Lots of luster, I was debating between 65 and 66, and then the reveal showed up - so I will say MS66 :D:D Cheers, RickO
