Good old US Mint, screwed up on my UNC Eagle order

Joe_360Joe_360 Posts: 1,843 ✭✭✭✭✭

I purchased two Uncirculated West Point SAE's (Yes, I know, I'm one of those...). Well the wrong COA was included. The certificate state "Proof" and mint mark "S", Obviously incorrect. I called them and stated that they have not heard of this issue previously and that shipping must have made the error..

Next they tell me that I have to send the coins back to correct the mistake! What kind of sense does that make and what an inconvenience... No customer satisfaction, just send the correct certificates to me!

I told them to open a case and have a manager call me back, will see... The Eagle look good and I don't want to risk getting poor quality Eagles returned...

Made me look. ... My COAs say UNC. :*
    Pre-announce of the proof-S maybe?

At the very least they could verify your order, and maybe have you send the COAs back, and switch 'em. But I'm sure they dont want to send COAs to just anybody (who may be making counterfeits).

If they have inventory, the Mint says that they will replace a "lost" COA. Link

When you speak with the manager, see if he, or she, will do this for you instead of a return.

    Good Luck. :)

I wouldn't send them back. Just ask someone here or someone you know that will be sending them in for grading if you can have the correct COAs for the coins you have.
To much of a hassel to ship them back, and wait a month or two to get it back

At least the box is correct...

COA's will be plentiful on ebay.

That would be a hassle.... so much easier to just mail COA's.... If it were me, I would wait and buy a couple on ebay....probably cheaper overall. Cheers, RickO

Don't send them back. That is nuts.

Unless I missed something...did the OP receive COAs for Eagles not yet scheduled for release (or announced)???

You'd have to wrestle those out of my hands!!!

No way would I send either back - that’s a huge score!!
What a story - the ASE on the COA not even released yet - you have a really cool item - I would keep them together and never separate them.
The COAs have little to no value anyway once the coin is purchased. Slab coin is same as COA if you think about it....

Should I take a picture with a newspaper by the date to show proof? Soon the S ASE will be released...

But what if the S is NEVER released...? Then you'd really have something rare!

However, since you have 3 of them...I can only imagine others also received them...but haven't noticed...yet!

I checked mine and they're normal.

Keep them and take a picture with a newspaper. Quickly. You have a very desirable error not a mistake needing correction. 😉🦫🙀

I have 2 I just received. I will gladly trade you one for one of yours. Please PM. I’ll pick up shipping costs. Would love to have one. Thanks
