An interesting ERROR NEWP! 2016 ASE

ashelandasheland Posts: 24,036 ✭✭✭✭✭

I don’t typically mess with error coins, but I found this Interesting. My friend had a roll of 20 initially, he sold five before he discovered that they were all clashed. Another friend of mine, a mutual friend got one raw from the original roll, so the remaining 14 went to NGC. Mostly 69’s and a few 68’s, he let me get one of them.

I find this pretty interesting:

I read an article and apparently there was some clashing on 2017 Eagles as well. Also I remember a member on here showing some 2016 ASE with a die crack!

I think there might be a few other dates as well, I know there was a strong clash found on a 2021.

Shouldn't that be a variety not an error. Clashes aren't errors because the altered dies can strike thousands of identical coins.

That is cool, but I have to agree that NGC is incorrect. In the case of a clash the defect(clash) is on the die and thus should be a variety, the same as the Lincoln 55/55, the doubling was on the die and it is considered a variety not an error.

Interesting die clash. Seems more interesting on an ASE since they have the large fields and usually very clean. Cheers, RickO

    None sold that I see.

I've listed my dirty underwear for $50. I figure better to sell it than wash it. My sock with a hole is available for $9.99 with free shipping.
