    Unless something has changed, the buyer will be notified by eBay. Additionally, the seller is reported as having said - hopefully truthfully - that he cancelled the sale after it closed.

    long ago, i had ebay do this type of thing. i don't recall what types of items they were but when i received the notification, i was pretty shocked. i did a LOT less research then but at the same time don't really recall being scammed which makes their catching it the few times i may have been even more impressive. of course they could have been just doing risk assessment on the safe side, who knows?

    The seller messaged and said they cancelled the sale as they were made aware it was counterfeit less than 24 hours prior to the auction ending which you apparently can’t cancel.

    With fewer than 12 hours left, you cannot end an auction that has 1 or more bids with reserve price met or no reserve price set. You can only sell to the high bidder.

    No, sale was ended; the seller is a large known account and reportedly a seated expert so I wouldn't expect to see it again in that venue.

    I also messaged the seller, they responded that you cannot end an auction within 24 hours before it ends. They said they let it finish and immediately cancelled the sale. I've never sold on eBay so I'm not sure if the first statement is true.

    @MFeld, It is interesting that the seller stated 24 hours when Ebay says 12. I still think they may not have been able to end it and it seems they did end the listing.

    I also somehow managed to reply to the last post on page one, I wasn't paying enough attention :neutral:, and therefore missed your link.

    I don’t recall the timing. But I believe that the seller was unable to end the listing and that he cancelled it after it ended on its own. Then, eBay subsequently removed it. Lots of action!😉

    Not taking anyone's side here, but I sell on eBay myself and I'm not online 24/7. If someone sends me a message, I may not see it until the next day. And if it's a holiday weekend...

    The seller had plenty of time. Here is the message I sent to him on May 23rd:

    FYI - This coin has an obviously added mint mark. The "CC" shape and position do not match the only known reverse die for this year. 1376 1871 CC dollars were minted and all have the same reverse die, which looks nothing like your coin.
