I think they were a little tough in grading this coin. It's a very nice for a 62 Imho.

Should I try Reconsideration service, anyone? I never have before. Has anyone reading here met with much success (or crushing disappointment) with it?

If CAC gave it a gold sticker, I would agree with using the reconsideration service. Otherwise, I think you'd be wasting your money on round trip insured shipping and the PCGS reconsideration fee.

If I do go CAC (never have, though I’ve owned a few secondhand), I predict it will get the green bean but probably not the gold. Still worth a try though, eh?

@lordmarcovan... Very nice gold coin LordM..... Great addition and glad your budget has grown. A green bean would help, and if it got a gold, would make it a candidate for reconsideration. Looking at the pictures, I could see that one as an MS63.... Cheers, RickO

It would only cost a few dollars to try it at CAC. Do you have a trusted local dealer or collector who submits to CAC? Perhaps your coin could hitch a ride with one of their submissions.
Edited to add that this coin may have already been to CAC. I would ask whoever you bought it from if they know if it already made a trip to CAC.

Great coin - fields are so clean, good luster and strike. Congrats!

It's a nice looking coin which at first glance appears to be under-graded; however, when I look at the last pic which shows the entire slab, there appears to be rub on the cheek and along the jaw line which may be why the coin didn't get a grade higher than MS62. I'm not sure how JA will treat rub on a coin with a MS slabbed grade.

Look in my bank account where the money was. There’s the hole. ;)

A $1,250 hole. Still, not a bad price, I reckon.

As many others have said, that appears superb for a 62. I really like it. I don't think the grade is necessarily "wrong" in the sense that it has marks, hairlines, etc. to justify it, but between their location and the luster and color it is uncommonly appealing. From here it looks like a great coin.

Nice looking, Indian. I think you did well. There are marks that are well hidden. You can see a few good hits on the eagle's feathers, that may account for the grade.

Anyways, it's a beautiful piece of gold.
