Just encase you may not know, but some of last few post is some of that side humor.
I didn't want you to get confuse about any of the specific details of Genuine.
So, keep following along, and if you ask anyone in this thread a question we'll give you a straight up as honest of a reply as we can.
I also sent you a personal message (PM) with that screenshot of the mint mark locations.

    I'm getting the side humor.
    I seen your message.
    Thanks again.

Do you see the rounded Wheat ear tips on the counterfeit vs the pointed on the Genuine one?

I do see the rounded wheat.

In the information I saw about the counterfeit die chip marker on that left Wheat ear they stated that these were "Likely" a China product.

Let me see if I can clear this up as your reference to the coin in the OP vs your coin.
As I saw "Buffalolron's" post and intentions in it wasn't saying that the one coin was a MATCH to yours, it was just another example of one with a similar oddity of mint mark location.

Correct Mark. They are 2 different coins. If I implied anything else, my apologies.

Okay, I found what I would call a pretty nice Genuine RAW woody (wood grain) 09SVDB.
    The seller has good pictures!
Its got what I would call a very nice strike for the designers initials.
And this coin isn't a suggested coin to buy, this is only a sample for us to use as a learning tool!
The advise giving above to look for one of these graded from a well established coin dealer is SOUND advise!
So, for everyone here lets say I just bought this coin, did I get a keeper?

This one was pulled by the seller

I don't think so, when I posted this sample the listing had less than an hour before it ended, so the listing just ended without any bids.

I posted the LINK not the coin AFTER the listing in OP was taking care. forum member "m4832" was interested in more information or details. This conversation then went onto buying (not buying) a RAW 09SVDB, I followed along. I stated in the comment that I included the link in, mainly for "m4832" that I was going to look for what I'd call a good example of a RAW SVDB, so, that's what I did!
It wasn't EVER meant to have been added as another counterfeit.
I must say that for some reason there seems to be a lot of misunderstand and confusion in these threads sense the derailment of the past two threads. I guess I'm going to have to regroup again before I start another thread, maybe my brain is tired :D

PCGS die #2. I would be proud to put this one in my album. Great looking piece. That's a "quiet" V.D.B. it has.
THE PIECE SEEN ABOVE IN THIS POST IS ABSOLUTELY GENUINE, A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF 1909-S V.D.B. CENT FROM PCGS DIE #2.

I didn't mean to add confusion to this thread; I added the image because it was referenced in here and it is good but I wasn't sure why the listing was ended...

Also an example of a good coin sold by a trusted Dealer.

  • ifthevamzarockinifthevamzarockin Posts: 8,908 ✭✭✭✭✭

There was a little confusion here but it's not a big deal and it's still a chance for everyone to learn something.
Everyone will take away something different.

No need for @MarkW63 or @burfle23 to feel bad or beat themselves up. ;)

For all we know the seller may have sold it in store or at a show and is a happy camper. ;)

Nope, your comment was fine! but the confusion fell out of the sky leading up to your comment!
I'd PM you but right now that's a hoot :D so, I'll do that later ;)
It appears I started it myself, but I thought I was clear of my intentions about picking out a good example of a RAW SVDB, and just roll with a conversion about the details of the genuine RAW vs the counterfeit details of the one in the OP.
So, here I don't see anyone as an issue, but somewhere things just got confusing. So, maybe I was trying to avoid a major derailment and missed something along the way??
Now, we know the listing for the coin in the OP was taking down by ebay.
The second coin or the link to it had nothing to do with the listing ending.
The coin _wasn't _ another counterfeit added to this discussion, it was as a stated a RAW example of what I took to be a pretty nice example of a Genuine RAW SVDB, had it been cleaned? did it grade well enough for its listing price, ??
So, the listing for the second coin wasn't PULLED or taking down, when I found it, the listing had less than an hour left before it ended, so it just ended with no bidders or buyers.
So, actually after I posted the link to the second coin, the following post read more like some here thought I had (again) just threw another counterfeit into this thread to deal with, then the thread took off about saved images before its GONE, so, I'm confused even more at that point?
I'm thinking I picked what I thought to be a perfect example of a Genuine SVDB and the members (some) here either thinks its a counterfeit, or its really a counterfeit and I missed it??
I just thought the Genuine RAW example would be a good conversation piece to illustrate what a person might look for if they wanted to go down that road of a RAW SVDB purchase, that's it, nothing more.

The listing ended without a sale and has now been relisted. All is well. ;)

It might be best to remove any photos and link to prevent further confusion.

    @MarkW63

I don't think you did anything wrong with posting that nice, real, wood grained beauty. I think everyone knew it was genuine.

I believe you even mentioned that.

@mr1874 Any chance of getting you to edit your post to remove the photo? The rest of the post is fine just the photo.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. :)

@MsMorrisine Any chance of getting you to edit where you quoted to remove the link? TIA :)
