No wrong answers - just a nice 1889s that I picked up for my collection with pleasing skin and a decent bit of luster present.

What do you all think?

I like the look. Luster is a little muted and there's a little wear / circulation, but I think the color is a plus. Solid ChAU (AU55) coin

Looks like a mid AU coin... cannot see the luster, so in hand evaluation could be more specific. Cheers, RickO

    AU57.

Sorry folks, but I think anything less than 55 is too conservative. Edited to add: If not, would you settle for anything less than 53 is too conservative?😉

Thanks for all the comments. I tried a manual color focus to get honest color but I think it washed out some of the luster.

In hand there's decent rim luster on the obverse around the 4-6 o'clock and again on 9-12 o'clock. On the reverse, it's pretty solid throughout.

    My best guess in hand:

    Obverse: 53-55
    Reverse: 55-58

I'd think it gets AU 55 at PCGS.
