Just picked this up. Thoughts and comments welcomed.

I like it, but have to ask - is it genuine?
Not that I'm in any position to cast dispersions....
What’s with the color?
My first thought was is it genuine. I looked up an example on coin facts and they look similar. So I am in no position to say one way or the other. If it is genuine then it still has some meat on it. Not sure about the color or surface condition with those photos.

I think we need better photos. It did look fake in the photos, but they are awful.

Contemporary counterfeit? The details look too mushy.
Would someone make the effort to use copper for counterfeiting a half cent back then?
The lightning seems too bright. Hard to review the color of the half cent. Not an expert or even a novice about this half cent.

That was my thought. Check the edge for a seam where the two electrotype shells were joined together and let us know what you find.

I will wait for the experts to give input....The obverse looked bad to me.... but not sure if it is the image or the coin. Cheers, RickO
I'm thinking electrotype also. Hard to tell if you are not well versed in half cents or/and electrotypes. I would need to see it in hand. Electrotypes do hold some value but not nearly as much as the real deal. It needs to be authenticated by a third party grading service to make sure. There is a reason that it is not in a third party holder already. JMHO, Bob

Color looks off and slightly out of focus images... IDK... this is one issue I'd never buy uncertified. There are just too many good counterfeits out there...

I’m assuming that the OP fully knows what he has; but yes checking for the seam, or evidence that a seam was burnished away, is a good idea. Weighing it is also good, as I doubt the shells were filled with copper, at least not in the exact proportion needed.
C-2 variety; details very mushy on reverse as previously stated. Obverse die rust causes some of the odd look there even on genuine examples. Should have a lettered edge so the third side is important to see but especially so if there is a seam

The obverse rim on the right side seems rather seam-like.

My gut feeling is fake.
I do not like the way it looks.
I am not an expert on these coins.
