that was a great movie. I watched it in a theatre in Bangor Maine and was all by myself for the first 5 to 10 minutes until another person walked in and sat down just a couple of rows in front of me.
that person just happened to be...
Stephen King. I have to be honest, it was pretty cool.

Greatest western movie of all time playing on insp right now……
Once upon a time in the west!
Sergio Leone’s masterpiece. Italian director who had Clint Eastwood play lead role in two or three of his
‘Spaghetti westerns’. Clint turned this one down and later said he thought it was just another pasta dish.
Henry Fonda plays the bad guy and he told this story many times…… before shooting began he bought dark contact lenses and grew a moustache and a little goatee because he wanted to look like a bad guy. Leone took one look at him and said ‘I paid for Henry Fonda’. He wanted the famous blue eyes because he knew what Fonda’s character does in his opening scene would be even more shocking when the audience saw a closeup of Fonda’s blue eyes.
Also there were no dollars back in Judas’ time. But sons of bitches, yeah… says Jason Robards. 😁

And they deleted the sob line from the movie. 🤣
Geez it’s 2025 insp!
In the spirit of the thread, here are three movies that I consider to be great and nobody ever talks about. Odds are some of you have never seen any of them. They were all nominated for Oscars, so they were recognized in their own time, but appear to have completely fallen off the radar.
Absence of Malice - Paul Newman and Sally Field, but the movie is absolutely stolen by Wifred Brimley in one of the greatest movie scenes ever near the end.
Requiem for a Dream - Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, Ellen Burstyn, and one of the Wayans Brothers (I forget which). Probably the most depressing movie ever made, but riveting. Great soundtrack music, too.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? - Jane Fonda and a bunch of B-list types that you'll recognize. Another depressing one, but well worth watching.
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

I havent seen the other 2, but you are correct about Requiem for a Dream. man is that movie raw and bleak. great flick, but one I probably wont watch a second time

I watch a ton of movies, and when I find a great one I'll watch it dozens of times (over many years). I think Requiem for a Dream is a great movie, and I've only seen it twice, and I'll probably never watch it again. But it will haunt me forever. I've also only seen They Shoot Horses, Don't They twice, but I'd watch it again if anyone would ever show it. It's also a beatdown, but not on the same scale as Requiem.
Ernest Goes to Camp, similarly, is so frightening I've never even watched it once.
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.
One movie I had on vhs was the original zombie movie, ‘night of the living dead’. I only watched it once, but the police chief gave me one of my favorite movie lines ever which is his last line in the dialogue below. The chief was amazing in how easily he adapted to the situation, like dead folks rising from their graves happened all the time or something. He cracked me up. 😂😂
Has anyone ever seen "The Dogpound Shuffle" with David Soul??

That's a classic!! I remember seeing it on TV maybe 1970-71 on Halloween Night and it scared the crap outa me. Whenever I see it now the ending really gets me. Ben makes it through the entire movie and at the end comes out only to get a head shot!!

Poor Ben. Yeah that surprised me. A classic but I really don’t like scary movies so that’s one of the few I’ve seen.
i am a big Horror movie fan. I have seen hundreds of them.
while Hereditary is well known amongst horror aficionados, i am not sure how well known it is in general. it is a very well made film and quite horrifying. the final 20 minutes is a non stop roller coster ride of terror.

I hate horror movies. The bad guy, entity, ghost, zombie, mass murderer, etc. always dies harder than Bruce Willis. 😱
I prefer action movies where our hero gets shot at 32,000 times but never gets hit and always prevails in the end. 🥳

I am the only person in my house who likes horror. my wife hates it. the last one she watched with me was the original paranormal activity. she said "never again"
I also like action, documentaries, war movies and comedies.

The Caine Mutiny with Humphrey Bogart
