I had a big ugly fingerprint on one of the proof palladium’s a year or two ago straight from the mint. I dipped it, and thankfully it still graded a 70. That’s pretty bad quality control though.

Quality has been bad this year, I got a bad 2 coin ASE set, another member did too. Sorry about your fingerprint, nothing more disappointing than opening it and seeing that.

After you dipped it, there is no stain or whatsoever left on the coin?

It could be on the plastic capsule as well. If you're concerned, I'd just recommend opening it and soaking it in pure acetone for a while and put it back.

A DNA test could be performed to find the culprit.

Last year after fighting and waiting, my WW2 privy ase showed up with similar crapola. There was no returning it.
Today I look at it and am grateful I have it . I tell myself that I can pick it out in a crowd. 😂😉

I haven’t dipped any of my coins in acetone, yet. But what I have read is that one has to use 100% pure acetone. If you decide to do this, you need to test the acetone first by putting a sample on a mirror (like a handheld) and let it evaporate and make sure there is no residue left. Any residue left would be left on the coin and you don’t want that. Do a Google search….make sure you understand all the safety precautions that come with acetone. Highly flammable and the fumes are not good for you.

Acetone (100%) will remove a print if applied immediately. If left for a while (varies) the acid in the skin oil, will etch a proof field. There is NO removing the etch. That picture does not, as far as I can determine, show a fingerprint... all I see is some kind of smudge on the field.... Either send it back or give it an acetone bath. Cheers, RickO

I too don't see a latent print. Dip it, if it's milk spots, you're SOL. Peace Roy

If it's labeled 100% and from the hardware store etc. it's safe to use. Nail polish remover isn't 100%, has fragrance, etc., and is not safe.

    As for safety...

    We have a print.
    Let's track em down. LOL
Call and see if they will replace your set but
currently this product is not available.
For what the mint charges, there should be no issues with the coins sent.
