Post a coin that grows?

More specifically a subpar coin that you have come to appreciate.
I recently had this Lincoln cent graded and it is a 67+. And although 68 is the jump in price the more I look at it the more I appreciate it. Especially when you enlarge the picture just enough to see the details. If it weren’t for the bubble in front of Lincoln‘s nose it would almost try to convince you that it is actually copper.

Here are the other two shown in CoinFacts which, are 68’s. They definitely show a higher degree of luster and possess a completely different look. But for whatever reason cannot be enlarged enough to see the same amount of detail as mine.

Wouldn't a 67+ grade coin be above par?

Maybe slightly but not in my book.

Pre 82 or copper then yes but zincs anything below 68 is pretty much below par,

Send it to Dr Pimple Popper - she'll send it back to you as a 68! :D

Thanks for mentioning the above as I was looking at the photo of the example you submitted thinking to myself...

This looks like every zinc cent I get as change.

That’s interesting as I figured you’d be more accustomed to getting Indianhead cents in change.

That one is probably a pre-1982 copper cent. If it were a zinc cent it would be long gone by now.

That could be worth $$$ listed on eBay under error coins! Struck through retained gold plated seaweed. Unique error!

@Mr_Spud ... That cent looks like one that was left in a plating tank too long. Used to work in an industry that did copper, lead, gold plating on a large scale. Employees on the night shift often plated coins, and sometimes a coin would get 'lost' in the tank. Later on, when recovered, would have metallic growth similar, depending on where and how it rested in the tank. Cheers, RickO
