This is called Mushroom error coin. The coin has been double struck and broadstruck. The second strike was struck with a blank planchet underneath resulting in the two splits in the planchet from the excessive pressure.

Yea It was a good month at work. I really just wanted to diversify too, I've been investing in other things but wanted more hard assets. And rare coins are way more fun then bullion, so I get to enjoy the hobby again. I know coin collecting is never a "sound investment" for monetary purposes alone, but I'm still pretty young still, and I foresee the value of coins trending upwards significantly in the next couple decades. I could be wrong but either way its nice to get back into it.

@DeplorableDan so long as you are enjoying it don't let anybody tell you what to do with your money.

I think this was a September delivery. My most recent anyways.

Nice! Classic head $5 is #1 on my list right now. I just got outbid today for a 1938 xf45 PCGS/CAC. Right now its already at $140 over the book value. It seems that CAC gold is hot right now.

Dang @SmEagle1795 that is a gorgeous aureus... Well centered, great portrait, smooth surfaces, and that reverse!

Anyways, here's mine, I'm a sucker for nice color.
