You probably know this, but that one was made by the "Nevada City Mint" (in California), circa 1970s and/or 1980s.
They made a number of different bronze octagons and rounds, most with themes related to mining, California, and/or Nevada. I have a silver-plated round, in the original holder, with a Mesa Verde (Colorado) design. That one is pretty rare.

They also produced a good quantity of small 5-grain silver ingots (circa 1980) which sell for a healthy premium over their melt value.

They also produced a very limited number of 1-troy-oz (or slightly heavier) silver ingots in a couple different formats. Those can sell for a huge premium. Like this rare one-troy-oz bar that just recently sold for $1,750 ! :

I was going to bid on it, but gave up on that idea before I ever submitted a bid. It received 21 bids with about half of those at or above $500.

Dang, that is some pricey silver.

I was fortunate to get the Sutter Fort octagon above with its original packaging.

I need to photograph a couple others, but I also was fortunate to have won this Nevada City Mint piece.

It also came with original packaging, but was obviously taken out and pocket carried a bit.

What intrigued me about the Sutter Fort piece was the California State Parks reverse on that one. I've been trying to get a nice CA reverse for a while.

Well, that proves that not all of them are that way. I think the one pictured above is indeed 139 (with a normal 3).
Maybe the "3" punch broke somewhere along the way and they switched to using a different punch.

Here is a "Bryan Dollar." Ferran Zerbe stated that this was one the rarest pieces in the series, which was covered in his guide. His guide first appeared in 1926 in "The Numismatist" and was later reprinted.

This piece is very scarce, but not quite that tough.

It's been a while since I've had anything to contribute to this thread, but I ran across this Montana Territorial Centennial Octagon Slug pair and couldn't pass them up.

Minted during the Montanna Territorial Centennial in 1964, this pair celebrates the Cowboy Artist Charles Marion Russell.

These are quite a bit larger than your standard octagon slug. Measuring a full 45.5mm across the flats (48mm between the points), the bronze octagon weighs in 44.3 grams and the sterling silver octagon weighs in at 55.6 grams. The silver piece is edge marked STERLING and bears the serial number #225.

Edit to add…..great pickup!

Looks like J840 to m but ten again I have a temp of 101 right now. But,
I posted my new pickup last week (I think)
It was an ungraded one. But, I have both examples
of the Parker octagonal and round.

I may have posted my wallpaper that I made of all the different slugs in this thread.

1974 U.S. Mint Centennial / CSNA - brass - 800 minted
This one is quite rare compared to the mistake one. They produced and distributed 1300 saying it was
a Bi-centennial. When in fact it was a Centennial. The silver even rarer at 100 minted.

Here's something a bit different. Following Indian 10 Paise coins are not exactly octagon in shape but has 8 sides with flower petals kind of style.
