ANA Short Report

Drove down to the ANA on Wednesday morning for a quick walk through. Only had 3 hours to spare.

Did some lot viewing at both Heritage and Stacks and all the coins on my list were extremely nice for the grade. Not sure how I am going to narrow down the list by bid day. Might over spend in the next week at these auctions.

Walked the complete floor and got a feel for what was on the floor. To be honest there were not many coins that fit into my collections. Most were way out of my league grade wise and price. I was able to purchase a nice MS64 OGH-CAC Buffalo from Iowa Great Lakes Coins. He always has some nice stuff.

As I was getting ready to leave I stopped by to see Liz Coggan and talk about pricing on some of the AU 58 Barber quarters that I am seeing out there that seem extremely high. Like 3-4 times CAC price. Well talking to her she told me about some new coins she just bought and after looking them over I purchased a 1796 Quarter in G6 for my type set. The grade is a little lower than what I was hoping for but as I get down to the final coins in my US complete type set I have realized that many of the final purchase will be lower end coins as that is all my budget will allow.

The other coin that was on my list for this show was to purchase a Type 1 AU55-58 CAC $20 Gold piece. They are hard to find and the only one I even saw on the floor in my price range was an XF 45 CAC at Witter Coins. This coin will have to wait as the search goes on.

The show was busy but not as busy as the last time I was there a few years ago. Seemed like dealers were buying each others inventory every table I went too. Checks were being written left and right everywhere I went.

Stopped by a couple of Binney's Liquor stores on the drive home looking for some hard to find Bourbons, no luck there.
