Rather long description, but I guess if you are going to spend that amount of money on a coin, you want to know as much as possible about it. I would study more than that if that one was in my league and I was considering it. Nice looking coin. Edit for grammar.

You never know. You could always add more than one 1804 dollar to your box of 20. It would be a fun project to reunite all of the Liberty Head V Nickels and all of the known Class I 1804 dollars.

IIRC, It's darker than it was at the Childs sale.
I've never seen a picture of this coin that I thought represented it well, though, in honesty. having looked the coin in-hand at Childs I doubt if I even noticed the catalogue photo.
For the money one is going to have to pay for that piece, he or she should get a hardbound copy of it's sales ad. I would have that signed by as many important people close to the piece as I could find.
If a picture wasn't going very well I'd put a puppy dog in it, always a mongrel, you know, never one of the full bred puppies. And then I'd put a bandage on its foot... I liked it when I did it, but now I'm sick of it.

I have the only two large Bowers and Merena Childs auction posters advertising the Child auction displaying the gigantic photo of the Child's 1804 silver dollar back in 1999. Both of them was sitting on the easels to carefully steer the bidders into the auction room.
When Pogue sold the 1804 silver dollar through Stacks Bowers a few years later I brought one of the posters to Q David Bowers to personally autograph it on the reverse. side. He was happy to do so.
But the story of how I acquired both posters is a great story that was posted here about 10 years ago.
