Rather long description, but I guess if you are going to spend that amount of money on a coin, you want to know as much as possible about it. I would study more than that if that one was in my league and I was considering it. Nice looking coin. Edit for grammar.
Just a little out of price range. Great coin, interesting history.

Heh. If I thought I had a prayer, I wouldn’t have started this thread.
You never know. You could always add more than one 1804 dollar to your box of 20. It would be a fun project to reunite all of the Liberty Head V Nickels and all of the known Class I 1804 dollars.

Do you think it will still grade 68 when TDN punches him stamp on that one

I am guessing it would sell for the same amount if this was the entire write up:

I doubt the 1933$20 would have. Either time. So why would this one be any different?
Best wishes in your efforts to land this one... And while it is easy to write this, there are other coins that represent significantly greater value that have been ignored for decades that you can seek out in the event this does not have the the ending you planned.

To anyone who has seen the coin in-hand - is it as dark as the photos?
IIRC, It's darker than it was at the Childs sale.
I've never seen a picture of this coin that I thought represented it well, though, in honesty. having looked the coin in-hand at Childs I doubt if I even noticed the catalogue photo.

For the money one is going to have to pay for that piece, he or she should get a hardbound copy of it's sales ad. I would have that signed by as many important people close to the piece as I could find.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
i seriously doubt anyone who has the resources to pay up for a piece like this is interested in the possible administrative nightmare that selling shares in ownership might bring.

Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.
I have the only two large Bowers and Merena Childs auction posters advertising the Child auction displaying the gigantic photo of the Child's 1804 silver dollar back in 1999. Both of them was sitting on the easels to carefully steer the bidders into the auction room.
When Pogue sold the 1804 silver dollar through Stacks Bowers a few years later I brought one of the posters to Q David Bowers to personally autograph it on the reverse. side. He was happy to do so.
But the story of how I acquired both posters is a great story that was posted here about 10 years ago.

selling any fractional ownership?
I don’t think they’d appreciate my bid of $150
@DavidLawrence - I’m sure you already know about this, but it would make an excellent upgrade for Hansen.

One of my favorite US coins.
maybe we need to pull back up that image of those ms68/69 large cents in ogh and start running cert numbers!
There some great stuff in this auction
The question is --- what is the reserve?
Sell a put!
tl;dr.
But it would be cool to slap your name on the end of that exquisite provenance. Good luck!
You mean @JBatDavidLawrence
Beautiful coin.
Good luck with the auction; and here's hoping you win it.

I was going to post a pic of a opossum playing possum but found this tree frog pic a nicer look

Very nice!
But I've been waiting for one with a gold bean.
In all seriousness, it would be a thrill of a lifetime, just to hold a spectacular coin like that for a little while.
Hope you get it.

I do
Not a single one is. I thought about making mine a 64+ to be the only one stickered but JA was on the fence
You the only one?
