It's been that way for at least 3 weeks.
The old red avatar was easy to see and members could not use it without being banned.
With the new system if a member doesn't upload an avatar it shows the same as a banned member.
Without clicking on the member name you don't know if they are banned.I liked the old avatar better or some other new avatar that can't be used by active members.

Every now and then, someone will bring up an old post and it shows banned for some members. Then some think it has just happened. I feel it would be a good move to have a notice when an old post has been resurrected that is visible at a glance rather than checking the date after reading several posts.

It was me who complained. I didn't like the photo of my girlfriend being used that way.
As for a new "banned" icon, we definitely should have one. I don't like the "broken link" image.
