1909 MS-67 Philadelphia Mint VDB Lincoln Cent (This is for the records)

First they had the listing titled 1909-S VDB whatever, and I couldn't see a SIGN of an "S" on it. So I very "Respectively" politely contacted the seller and requested if he could post a better detailed picture of the coin that I couldn't make out the "S".
Well, I get a friendly reply message saying something about they had two coins and the "S" is worn off of the other one and they took pictures of the wrong one, bla.. bla........
So, a little later I get another message from the seller that they had posted another coin check it out!
So, that turned out to be the same coin titled 1909 VDB MS-67 No Mint Mark (Extremely Rare) with a starting bid of $21,000.00
I then "Respectively" messaged him about the misleading title I called the "etsy theme" about the falsehood of the rare No Mint Mark Lincoln cents & how the Philadelphia Mint on purpose omits their mint mark on all the Lincoln cents except the 2017, I also sent him a screen shot from the "Official Red Book Of United States Coins" showing his coin and the other very rare No Mint Mark 1934 Lincoln cent he listed.
Now the title reads 1909 MS-67 Philadelphia Mint VDB Lincoln Cent with the $21,000.00 starting bid
They reply saying thanks for the information, they collect coins from all over the world, he (they) said they had a whole bag of 1981 and ask if I wanted to see some of those. They closed saying they was going to get that coin SOLD!
I was NEVER not POLITE! I even told him that I didn't think their listing violated any ebay rules and all I was trying to do was to possibly inform some of the misinformed and what they do with that information was totally up to them.
I also tried to explain what MS-67 really mint about grading a coin??
They really do exist!

Comments
Saying ms67 when it’s not holdered by an approved tpg is a violation
But I don’t report anymore.
I didn't know that, but when I saw that in the title and I looked at the beat up coin I got the idea that he included that in the title not really knowing what it even meant (Possibly).

Usually. A lot of times people just hit "sell similar" and since they don't know what any of the terms mean, they just leave them. [Note: This is why actual brain surgeons make a lot of money.]
All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.
This is just another of the recent plague of sellers on ebay with little or no feedback that are listing badly misrepresented coins for absurd prices.
If you look at what he sells, 7 items listed, another pos Lincoln and a couple of baseball cards. You can learn a lot about an ebay seller from what he is selling
I’m holding out for an MS 68

don't wear yourself out. there are many of these types of listings ever growing by the month. if you're just trying to educate, more power to ya.
Since this numismatic gem is sure to be pulled by eBay, for the benefit of our members I have saved the photos that the 0 feedback seller has posted for this $21,000.00 coin. Enjoy!! 😆

Good going - this time nobody complains about you showing a crap coin - $21,000? - WOW!
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Well, I first started this quest a couple of weeks ago, I just picked a date like 1940 No Mint Mark, I made up a really nice comment (respectively) with the information I thought would be helpful to any honest seller who may have just got swept up it the "No Mint Mark" theme of things and copied and pasted it to several sellers. I actually got a good bit of reasonable responses, some ask for more information, several either dropped their listings or adjust them accordingly.
(he was still being sarcastic of course) he still thought I was trying to scam him. So, I finely went through my metal detecting Wheaties and found 21 one them, I laid them out on my desk and took a close up picture of them and I sent that to him and told him I wasn't kidding! that I had been on ebay for 21 years and if I tell someone I'm going to do something I mean it, I just need a shipping address!
So, then I went down the list like the Extremely RARE 1943 Silver Steel No Mint Mark War Time, Very Rare Sticks to a Magnet listings, in them I included ebay links to the sets of 3 uncirculated ones for $15.00.
I went down the 1946's man those are as rare as hen's teeth.
1952,
1992,
1963,
1982, LoL!
So, I've put a dent in them, a small dent anyway!
These people have created their own market of rare coins just by referring to them as "No Mint Mark" "Rare" I've told every one of them that collectors nor dealers are buying or selling these, that they use printed Coin Price Guides, and I suggest that they buy even a back dated issue of (The Official Red Book Of United States Coins).
Last night one person thought I was trying to swindle out of his 1946 No Mint Mark, so he first replies,
Good Post!
This bad boy is looking for a home, how much are you going to offer me me for it? (For real)
So, I politely stated, that his coin was one of the most common in that date range, and that I had that one in my collection and its not a key date, I said I'll tell you what I'll do! I go through all my old Wheat Cents and send you every 1946 Plain Lincoln cent I have for free and I'll pay the shipping, FOR REAL!
This went on for maybe four or five post. So, he responds saying, Oh, another really nice ebayer going to ship me a baggie full of these coins
By the next morning I got a couple of really nice Have a Good Weekend, kind of comments. I could tell that his high hopes for high dollars out of that common coin went down like the Hindenburg!!
I actually enjoyed it, but it did take most of the night!

😂😂😂
Looks rare, would have graded Ms 70 if it weren’t for this rim damage. 😂

I no longer look at coins on ebay.... just so much garbage and scams. Been well over a year now, and just the lack of seeing such stuff has made my life more pleasant. I am glad there are people that still police this stuff...but I just do not have the time, patience or interest anymore. Cheers, RickO

a nice read. encouraging and entertaining!
