ANA Election Results

Just received an email from the ANA with the results. Here are the vote tallies for each candidate:

I'm shocked - I think that's the first time ever where everybody I voted for got elected. You know what means - if the Board does anything I don't like, I can't complain about it - I voted for them.

I wonder why more members do not vote? I know it’s the same as any other election bur you’d think coin enthusiasts would be more opinionated for elections?

The "turnout" for most ANA elections is quite low.

So that I understand the results- 28,062 people voted about a governor but only 5481 voted for the president?
that means 22,581 left the vote for president blank?????

Also- highest rated governor received 14.8% of the vote and won.
The lowest rated governor received 13.9% of the vote and lost.

these numbers seem so skewed for any election.

No, the ANA election is different. A member can only vote for a single president and a single vice-president candidate. But can vote for multiple governor candidates.

So, I bet the total number of member voting was around 5,500.

You could vote for up to 7 governors, so adding up the cast votes doesn't tell you how many ballots were submitted in this case. With 5560 ballots submitted, 28062 votes for a governor only indicates the average was about 5 votes for governor per ballot.

Probably similar to most professional societies where 10-20% vote. I didn’t vote. I think there are at least two reasons.

Not enough info. I don’t really know what qualities are required to make a good ANA governor or president, and even if I did since I know nothing about these individuals I would have to do a fair bit of background research to try to figure out who has those skills. I don’t have enough motivation to do that.
Doesn’t matter. Most professional societies are pretty big ships with a lot of inertia. 99% of the time these folks can only make tiny course adjustments before their term is up. Assuming the candidates were already vetted by the organization to weed out any wackos, it won’t make much difference.

I did vote. Seeing how close it was makes me glad I did. I thought both gentlemen would be terrific so it was a good problem having to choose.

I got a piece of paper in the mail, I entered the code from that paper into the website, and I voted. Very easy and secure.

I saw the rest of the post as superfluous, and it was an independent clause that didn't change the meaning of the second clause. I thought the context of my question and the partial quote was clear. Apparently it wasn't as clear as I thought. What are examples of obsessive efforts by the runner up (i.e. "loser to be Ana president") that he is referencing?

Edited: Since people were bothered by elimination of the opening clause, I amended my post to add it.

I'm sorry my edit was sloppy. I was being lazy. I should have rephrased everything into a coherent question. Apparently some people were reading things into my post I didn't mean to imply. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

After my Blake Ingot was stolen and the person that bought it from the thief was trying to sell it to the loser, and after the loser was trying to broker it to a dealer with the condition it must be “put away” for a long time and “paid for in generic 20s”, this person ran for president…and lost handily. Now over a decade later , they must have thought people had forgotten. So my comment was hoping there isn’t a third go at it. Hopefully that clarifies the post.
