Lincoln 1925-S MS or AU

Do you think this raw coin would grade as MS (from worn reverse die) or AU? Appreciate the inputs.

From these photos it appears to be AU.

Thanks. That is what I thought. I will add it to my list to be replaced.

I agree with the consensus.... AU.... but a nice old coin. If I were doing a Lincoln album, I would add that one. Cheers, RickO

The photos aren't ideal, but the bust spread darker all along the high points, which would indicate wear and an AU grade.

Tough to tell because the photos are a bit dark, but my take is that it is "a slider" ... AU.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Hard to tell exactly from the dark pics but it seems to have some wear on both sides - it may not even make AU.

Struck pretty well for a 1925 coin, which was a year that the Mint quality was rather lacking. The "T" in TRUST and the 5 in the date show that the obverse was unevenly struck.

Still, it is a nice coin. I agree with AU.

Did you notice the nice die crack at the top of Lincoln's head?

So when does weak strike stop and wear start? Yes - 1922 - the year of the WORN die (Polishing) not WEAK strike. Right?

I've always thought luster breaks and overall luster are the start and stop.

Well do you see "Luster" ? Kinda hard to tell with the pics - I see XF wear. Untill other pics can prove not! And if anybody can change my mind let me know what you see to make this AU with supplied pics

Does PCGS classify "Weak Strike" as a grading category - ? Or is that just a term people use??

Note that some mint luster still shows.
