Interesting and Unusual PCGS slab set. First I've seen. Anyone have details?

The label is confusing to me.
Graded sample coins or something else entirely?

No clue. Nice OGDH (Old Green Double Holder).

Odd, perhaps two sample coins that the submitter asked to have graded and placed into the dual holder.

Here's a different set that sold on eBay:

Digging around, it looks like the set above sold on Great Collections:

That's what I'm thinking... pretty neat too. I imagine he created a modern rarity by doing so. There can't be too many others (if any) like this floating around.

I believe that Mike Kittle had these made. I'm not sure how to tag him on here.

@Lakesammman posted one here and has this to say about it:
"Interesting sample that appeared in mid-2016, duo holder with WW2 1c and 5c pieces, as shown. 2 appeared on eBay and brought strong prices, the one offered w/o the FS nickel brought $330, the one with FS $435!"

@illini420 had these for sale at one point.

IMHO: Coins were slabbed 5 years ago when PCGS offered the retro old green label and they are graded MS66 & MS66FS and the label means they are "samples" of a steal cent and a war nickel.

There are also known as retro green label dual holders.

The dual holder adds to the desireability of the retro OGH style.

Great to know the background on these slabs. Interesting too... I would have purchased one if I had seen it at a show...Cheers, RickO

I too would like to have one of these slabs in my collection.
A nice set of Kennedy's would do just fine.
