I like it. Granular surfaces but uniformly so on both sides with no other issues aside from porosity. Good value piece imo.

You can put any price you want on any coin. That does not mean it is worth it. The seller is reaching for pie in the sky. The coin did not sell for that price, so you cannot determine value of a similar example just because someone is trying get that amount for it. Go by actual sold coins for guidance.

Yea this one is not going to sell unless the price drops dramatically.
Nice that the 1/0 is so visible.... I am not an expert on pricing in this area, so, if you are happy, that is important. Good luck in your searches. Cheers, RickO

This! As part of my research into coin price trends, I've "watched" many coins get listed for "moon money" and then just sit... for months on end... only to get relisted over and over. These "Zombie Coins" are not "The Market". Remember, something is worth only what someone else is willing to pay. I keep an eye on these coins as a metric of what NOT to pay! I'm looking at actual auction prices realized to gauge the market...
Collecting: Dansco 7070; Middle Date Large Cents (VF-AU); Box of 20;
I find that the Classic Head LCs had pretty lousy planchets to begin with, and many of the survivors are corroded. This is the best one I could find for my US Type Set - 1811.
It's a fun set to work on, that's for sure. I've been working on my set for about 18 years now. Trying to get a red book variety set. Before 1804 I'm missing a whole bunch; however, after I'm only missing the 1807 over date with blunt 1. Here's my 1811 over 10 which I bought from Tom Reynolds about 8 years ago, and it cost me about the same amount as you spent. Tom graded it as G5 / VG7 Net G5 and noted that it's the S-286 which is an R3. Have fun with your hobby!
Never thought I would see an EAC guy over grade a Large Cent! No way I could call that coin a G!

This is my favorite coin in the series. However, you should take your time and be more selective.
very very corroded, but nice with that qualifier. Don't think it is worth what you paid though,
Lots of porosity, but it's par for the course for heavily circulated coins of this type. I've seen worse in top tier TPG slabs.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
This one sold for $151 today not 11/0, and way more corroded.

Well I see that the xf grade books around $6,250 retail, I think $2000 is still way to much for this coin.
What are you missing?

1809, 1857. Putting a custom set together no 1793, 1799. Or 1804 to expensive for me.
You are getting close!! I just sent off an 1811/0 for grading. Fingers crossed.
Hope it gets a good grade.

Successful BST transactions with: SilverEagles92; Ahrensdad; Smitty; GregHansen; Lablade; Mercury10c; copperflopper; whatsup; KISHU1; scrapman1077, crispy, canadanz, smallchange, robkool, Mission16, ranshdow, ibzman350, Fallguy, Collectorcoins, SurfinxHI, jwitten, Walkerguy21D, dsessom.
I think the price is acceptable, if still a little high for the condition of this coin.
When I think that in the late 80's/early 90's you could buy a nice 1811 in Fine or better for $300...

This is the example in my set. I paid $275 back in 1988 or 1989.
The S-286 coins being posted are nice, to be sure, but the S-287 overdate is a much tougher coin.
