To my kids I am Ancient (I like the term Classic better).
However since they were both born in the 1990's people 21 and younger may well consider my kids to be "so last 20th Century" and thus simply behind the times.
There are topics among moderns and classics that don't interest me. I skip those threads. I appreciate that everything is in one place because it makes it easier to see what may be of interest. Since my focus is classic I would be much more likely to miss a thread in a modern section, even if it interested me. I like things as they are.

OP, Feel free to start a conversation about anything modern. Many of us own a wide range of coins including foreign.
Agree. No need for a separate forum. Just post here.
The interesting thing is that many world & ancient coins are posted in the "World & Ancient Coins Forum" and many world & ancient coins are posted in the US Coin Forum. I think it comes down to where people like chatting more than what coins they like.
I've known collectors that believe moderns didn't start at dates, it started at the series beginnings. Moderns started at Lincolns, Jeffersons, Roosevelts, Washingtons, Franklins. I don't know what they would do with commemoratives though......................

The NGC forums seemed to be more compartmentalized in it's day and it was awkward.

No.
RIP Mom- 1932-2012
I understand the rationale but splitting up this forum will make each part less interesting.

You're not the only, yet I do think you're in the minority.

Why?
Talk about coins, whether new or old.
I have heard that if you pick up a modern coin you may get "cooties".
Be warned
Both customer bases can learn from each other.
Yes, contrary to conventional wisdom the classic coin collectors and dealers can learn from the modern.
Leave it the way it is.
I love learning new stuff about old coins and new coins as well. There may be different chapters, but it's all one book.
…what a waste of a good wish…your pissing the genie off man!
I am all ears, please share a "Modern" discussion.

This is the "moderns" forum. The one for ancients is found elsewhere.

I wish the radio only played songs I liked.
That is kind of the problem, all kidding aside. When does "modern" start?
Recently, someone mentioned 1933. Others talk of 1964 or even later. Post world war 2? 20th century on? 21st century?
Modern: Clad & Zinc.
Classic: Silver and Copper.

A dedicated error forum would get rid of a lot of the rift raft! @ErrorsOnCoins
So cents through 1982 are modern but only quarters through 1964 but halves through 1970?
And what of nickels?
The forum has been going in one form or another for a couple of decades. The definition of "modern" might be a moving target.
Oh boy every time someone brings this topic up you can predict the trajectory of the conversation! The Dimeman would love this.
To me modern is anything post 1964.
I admit, there are minor imperfections with my logic.

You could always start your own website / boards.
Which of the two would threads about the debate between fans of each sector belong?

"Modern Crap" as Dimeman would say.

Things are slow enough here as it is.

This is the U.S. Coin Forum, ALL U.S. coins. I like it this way. I get to look at whatever appeals to me. Cheers, RickO
You got that right. But.....hey, you're pretty much always right!😇
For modern US coins the start date imo would be 1965 - move to cupronickel.
