1991 "D" WIDE AM?

this 1991 D has the characteristics of a Wide AM but I havn't seen anything written about D mint Wide AM's

The A M is spaced wide and the FG is very close to the steps.

Is this a New one?

  • I think wide AM is normal.

I use lincolncentresource.com for most of attributions... and quoting their website... "1959 - 1991 P and D cents should all have Wide AM reverses."
  • 1993 is when they made the switch to the close AM. Thus, anything after 1993 with a wide AM is valuable.

All coins before 1993 have the wide AM. It's good to use for comparison if you think you have found a new variety. Recently, a 1992-D was found with a close AM and I'm sure if it sold it would be thousands of dollars.

A good website for this is lincolncentresource.com

    91-D wide is normal.

1992 and earlier memorials both proof and bus strikes are wide. In 1993 both proof and bus strikes are close AM. In 1994 and later the bus strikes are close and proofs are wide AM.

The rare ones are: (until someone discovers other rare varieties)

Bus strike 1992 P or D close AM
Bus strike 1996 P wide AM
Bus strike 1998 P wide AM
Bus strike 1999 P wide AM
Bus strike 2000 P wide AM

    Proof 1998 close AM
    Proof 1999 close AM

@Observation.... I believe, due to your 'new' status, that the upload will be held for review, and should show up later. Check with an admin (@HeatherBoyd)...Cheers, RickO
