Bust Half Experts - thoughts and verify attribution -
This has been in my 7070 type album a number of years. I decided to try to attribute it, using the
Early Half Dollar Information Site. It took a little time, as I was initially focused on checking the numerous die breaks, not realizing the later die states are shown further down, and labeled as "a", after the Overton number.
So I think its the O-111a.
Yes it's been cleaned and there are hairlines, but the price was quite reasonable many years ago, and the album toning is getting nice, IMO. Not sure if this will a straight grade or not though.

Very nice coin... should straight grade.... Send it in and let us know. Cheers, RickO
Beautiful O-111a date, Greg. Love the 3. Quite the coin, would love it to be mine regardless of the previous cleaning.

ok for a lack f better knowledge, what is that black stuff going around on both sides? ive seen on other halfs
In this case most of it is from insufficient lighting, I just quickly reshot it. But yes, I think proximity to sulfur in the album hole causes the toning to be darker around the rims.
As stated, you got it on the first shot.
Beautiful looking O-111a by the way, I'm taking the rims are purple-blue to russet orange? Great look!
Based on those pictures (not definitive ) that has a good shot at a straight grade in the mid-AU range (55, shot 58 if it straight grades would be my best bet).

thank you
Looks “market acceptable” to me.
