I have had this thing for many years now. It was one of those young and stupid purchases. I cant recall where it came from or how much I spent, which wouldnt have been much. It shows luster but I suspect it has been messed with, maybe a light polish. I would like some opinions, but as I write this, I am realizing that I dont like it very much. What say you?

Looks like a nice coin in need of some minor restoration.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

I don't think you will be happy removing anything with this peace(pun intended;)). I see scuff marks exactly where the stain was applied, coincidence........nah

The spotting on the obverse is what bothers me the most. Acetone didnt make a difference but I had to try.

I don't know - looks like good mint luster, just maybe kept in some kind of sulphur type envelope? It's really a pretty coin....

There are scuffs under some natural toning. Fully recognizable as such by the pattern. Why would anyone would take the time to "doctor" a coin at this value level is beyond me.

cf: @clarkbar04 - Some obv. work with dilute Jewel-Luster and a Q-tip, followed by a subsequent mild dip will likely result in a bright 63.

That looks like a nice Peace dollar beneath the tarnish/gunk....There is still luster... I do see some marks, but they do not look major.... Restored as @ColonelJessup suggested, could result in a nice MS coin. Cheers, RickO

It is a good album coin. I'd just leave it as it is.

High points are more vulnerable to both bag marks and contact with surfaces or substances likely to result in toning. So maybe not coincidence but probably not deliberate, either.

Yes, I'm seeing a 63, too, under that uneven toning.

It doesn't look that bad - it's always got the $21.68 worth of silver going for it!

It looks like natural toning, but in this case... is it "worth it" to send it in for conservation? If the piece holds some sentimental value, you might want to send it in... otherwise, I'd buy a Dansco album and park it there... FWIW... it looks low MS under the tarnish...

Not worth sending it in. Agree nice album coin.

Looks like an improperly rinsed dip. I would be concerned that black has etched into the coin's surface.
