Forum Newbie....

Hey everybody CU Forum Newbie here,
I've been a coin collector since way back when I was in Cub Scouts. I only collect raw coins, I don't have any slabbed coins in my collection but I have 3 albums full of each denomination except one wheat penny album and I am only missing the 1909 S VDB, the other 2 wheat albums have the 09 S VDB.
About 3 years ago I decided to start collecting tokens, I started off by buying some bulk deals on Ebay or from a LCS. Needless to say I got bored with those bulk buys and decided to concentrate on towns/counties I have lived in and Military bases I was stationed at and their surrounding communities. I was stationed in Korea for 2½ years with the 2nd Infantry Division and have found quite a few of those.
To help me in my Military token adventure I have both of Cunningham's military token books and O'Donnell's Book of Military Tokens of Korea.
Look forward to learning more about coins and tokens from this site

Welcome aboard!😎
Welcome. Sounds like you are on a great start. I also collect raw coins that interest me, but very few tokens. Good luck and hope to see some pics. Especially of your 09 S VDB's, the only one I lack for my collection.

A lot more than two sides to most opinions here…
Hi.
Welcome.
Also new here.
So many cool coins and tokens and stuff.
You're starting off on the right track. Friend Paul Cunningham's two volume set (are they really 25+ years old???) are still the standard catalogs for military tokens. They give you a very good overview of what's out there and a dated price guide that still is good for determining relative rarity. There have been a lot of new discoveries over those years; unfortunately there is not an on-line gathering place for the additions. You might take a look at several works by Sgt. Ray Bows on Viet Nam War era tokens (although the Cunningham catalog Volume II covers the series pretty well using a lot of input from the late John Shillinglaw's work on U.S - Viet Nam tokens). It's a world encompassing subset of exonumia.
