Hi guy's! Has anyone ever noticed what exactly is the guard, in the cell, doing to silver quarters on his table? He does have a hammer in his hand. (towards the end, when Paul Newman has been recaptured) Just curious?

I was able to watch the film recently.
The man is "spooning" the coin which is hitting a coin on its edge with a spoon to eventually create a ring.

It appears to be a quarter-sized silver coin of King George VI from either Great Britain or a British commonwealth such as Australia or Canada.
